There is a lot of sky where I am. I just have to remind myself to go out and actually look at it, lol.

Gingerale wrote:That's exciting news! I did manage to see a couple really bright meteors with long tails so that was fun and worth the crick in the neck. Maybe next time I will get a fold up chair or something and use that to lean back on.

That's a good idea! I added a lawn chair to my wishlist.

ahaha noo I meant the movie xDD with the animals! They're wild animals, but they lived their whole life in a zoo in New York City. So to them, stars are helicopters.

I was told there was a lunar eclipse before and after the solar eclipse, so I was trying to look up when. I stumbled across this site which shows the next 10 years of eclipses in some very nice graphics: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/list.html

Popping in to:
1) Scream about the solar eclipse BG AHHHHH!!!!
2) Make sure neither I or the thread died
3) Solar Eclipse Day!!

Can anyone see it? Because I'm overseas and the time difference is too obscure for me to follow (plus little to no wifi D:)

For where to watch check out NASA's site: https://www.nasa.gov/eclipse2017

"On August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. Viewers around the world will be provided a wealth of images captured before, during, and after the eclipse by 11 spacecraft, at least three NASA aircraft, more than 50 high-altitude balloons, and the astronauts aboard the International Space Station – each offering a unique vantage point for the celestial event."

Total solar eclipses occur regularly but being able to be in the actual shadow, the umbra, to see it are rarer and it supposedly has been 99 years since the total solar eclipse occurred across the whole of the United States. (I think I got that right)

I watched NASA's coverage. It was very cool the shots of the total eclipse. At the end they talked with the people aboard the International Space Station. They said there was a dark smudge over a portion of the Earth. They actually get to experience a partial eclipse twice. From their vantage point, only 40% of the sun was covered the first time.
