They like having him work there, so that may help me get a job there
Like when he went on leave again, they went and got the paperwork done, even if he wasn't gonna be back ever again (he got the release papers today, no restrictions. And according to the dates on them, he could've gone back last week). Dad figures that if he'd gotten back with restrictions, they'd've made it work out
Dad's still looking to replace his main job though. Something less stressful/physical

It sounds like they value your Dad so that's a good /positive for you and speaks highly of your Dad.
I hope he can find something else less stressful too! Two scares are enough, right?

That brings up a good point ....how often do perspective employers check out our references we put down on our application?

It depends on the job. Higher security ones (where the company needs to trust you) usually do.

Otherwise it's just a record to help track you down if they need to try and find you.

Well dad only got the job he has there cuz he knows someone else who works there. My pseudobrother
He is/was a friend of my brother's, and eventually outright moved in
And he went hey. You need to hire him. Now to the people when dad asked him about it

BJ's is a wholesale club. I'm applying to be a cashier. Retail slavery LOL
But it probably is one of those places where if you know someone, you've got a foot in already. Especially.if those who are your way(s) in are known as good workers. Dad works there one day a week, and if he could do more, they'd be thrilled to pieces

Well, is it less physical work for him there? Maybe he could work more?

Either way, it would be nice if you could get some hours in and have a regular paycheck, you should get more hours especially with the holidays coming.
