It's a law. Just not sure how far up it goes
Like the lake could have me and mom on the same shift cuz the stores are either one or two people, and we'd never be in the same two person store unless one opened and the other closed, while same shift would be I'm Trading Company and she's Trends
Or she's TC and I'm Glow, which has had some times where'd I push into the store and give her a bathroom break, or she'd send me a text asking for help with the Ticketmaster machine, cuz Glow uses push carts
Or in my first year, she was merchandise and I was maintenance (a sweep, to be specific) so we were different departments entirely
BJ's and Target are harder to keep us separate cuz one building
As for why the law exists, probably drama. That or it's not "family owned and operated" so they can't. Idk
Soeakig of family owned and operated I've never seen one in person. On tv, yeah. Cooking channel, specifically, but not irl
