Well we close early Christmas eve, so only two people are working.
And the whole store is closed for Christmas.
I do have to open the day after Christmas though.

I use to work at a veterinary clinic back in the kennel. Everyone had to sign up to work for two major holidays out of the year. Pretty much had to pick between Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas which one I'd want to stay home for.

Wow, that is crazy. We automatically close for Thanksgiving and Christmas each year. I think those are the only two. Also, if roads are really ice, we will be closed as well. No one is going to risk their life to go out and get a sub. >_<

Right, no one should really be out during those times. However in the kennel there's always dogs and cats boarding so someone has to come in to look after them. It's crazy over the holidays, everyone on staff comes in to help out no matter what their position is. The one I worked at the owner and vet had the clinic built on her land so she was always there. I use to live 10 minutes away so when we were short or there was bad weather I'd go in to help out. I could've walked that distance but luckily it never got that bad.

Kit- thank you for rescuing me!When I screamed out with glee it must have frightened the pengwings! I DO need to be careful around them... I get so excited I forgot!

Dragoness: I get the holidays off but with no pay but at least I get them off. I have to work all day Christmas eve and then the day after Christmas.

I think the general public forget that in order for us to shop on a holiday or eat out on a holiday, that someone has to give up that day to work. Some places will give extra pay if you have to work a holiday.

I think everyone should have off on Thanksgiving and Christmas unless your providing a special service.

I agree... do we really need to be open 7 days a week? Or 24 hours a day? Why is Kohl's open 24 hours a day until Christmas? How much shopping are you really going to do? Either order on line or maybe stay open until 10pm - how about opening earlier before people have to run to work...I hate when I want to go pay my bill and the place doesn't open until 2 hours after I get in to work!
