Yes it is, but worth the effort knowing what you're actually sticking in your body.

Um, is it okay if we not talk about what makes a healthy diet? Odd trigger, but I’m still wrapping my mind around the fact that if I want to eat by mouth, a lot of nutritious foods are off-limits.

Sorry... :(
I meant keeping bad stuff out (although I suppose that would imply only letting good stuff in). :/

No, it’s totally my bad. I’m sensitive about weird things and practicing aggressive self care.

How’s your day treating you? We’re having slightly warmer weather!

Trader Joe's does have good pickled beets. Costco also has some that are good but in a mega package. Fortunately the box has three separate packages in it so you don't have to open the whole thing and have it wasted.

Some pickled brands are way too salty for me. I'm fine with the water packed ones.

lol all this talk about beets makes me want some!

Evenings and mornings are definitely cooler but still getting sunshine in the day. We do need rain though, too many fires still going on and today the wind is blowing a different direction so we have smoke from the fires that are hours away reaching us.

The winds knocked over part of one of my friend’s fence! Insane!

I hope you get rain soon, but not any mudslides.

Were you affected by any blackouts?

That's a lot of wind! We've lost fence due to wind and wet soil (from rain), but the weakest (with rot) tend to go first. It makes me sad when they fall (and not just because of the work involved to replace them).

I think parts of California are/were getting hurricane force winds. Add the blackouts and fire, and it’s utterly bonkers

Bonkers is putting it mildly! People have been saying it's the fault of global warming while ignoring the clearing of fuel (vegetation) and upkeep of equipment as being something directly responsible and addressable immediately. Last I checked, climate change did not just affect California and stopped at the borders! :scream:

PG&E has a long history of corruption, which contributes. I think I read an article (or articles) about things contributing to the wildfires — would you like me to locate them again for you?

No need. I'm not a fan of PG&E (Pirates Gangsters & Extortionists). The past execs should be put on trial for negligence and the $580 million bonuses given right as they declared bankruptcy should be clawed back from them and used to hire people to clear out the vegetation and inspect/replace the equipment. The company is run by greedy monkeys... sad to say.

Global warming is a problem here in Texas. I live in the greater Houston area, and Harvey was awful.

Our area didn’t get hit too hard, but people were canoeing in the streets.

True. Unless a hurricane decides we shouldn’t!

Either Ike or Rita caused our power to be out for at least a couple days. Our old fish all died because they didn’t have oxygen. I remember my mom charging her phone with our neighbor’s generator then later at work.

It really doesn’t happen often, but I’m not sure if much can stop it. Solar panels only work if there’s enough sun.
