Questions like ‘what do you do?’ are really dumb imo. Not everyone is lucky enough to work in a field that brings them joy, and not everyone works.

I’ve started asking ‘what are you interested in?’ because it leads to much more engaging conversation.

I, personally, am interested in mild kleptomania and taking jokes literally.

What does that mean, you only steal sometimes? Only certain things as opposed to anything any time you can?

I think half of the population has no sense of humor... sadly.

It’s a bit of a pun. I only sometimes take a joke(‘s meaning) literally, but I do often take jokes, literally. Commas!

My dad is a literalist. My sense of humor baffles him.

Yep, jokes/humor are some more examples of how limited English is. These have different meanings to many people--just like the word "love" is inadequate to describe what everyone thinks of it (there's just not one kind of love).

You sign STAND by having your dominant hand in an upside-down V (for legs) standing on a flat palm of your non-dominant hand.

So it follows that UNDERSTAND is the whole thing flipped over.
