Re: Star Talk ☆ Let's Hang - Lyrids Meteor Shower Peak 04/21

Postby Polaris » Fri Apr 13, 2018 5:28 am

Ohh!! The peak for the Lyrids Meteor Shower is coming up next weekend - April 21 (midnight) to April 22 (early morning)

The meteors can be seen from any point in the sky, but will mostly be concentrated around the constellation "Lyra."
Do check it out if you happen to have some mostly clear skies in your area!

Heads up everyone! Tonight's the night for some primetime viewing of the Aquarids (or Eta Aquarids) Meteor Shower!! Head out between the hours of midnight and 4am, or whenever the night sky is clear for ya (after 10:30pm), and try to spot some shooting stars!

Ohhh! I didn't catch it since it was very cloudy in my area, but was anyone lucky enough to see Venus in action?

The clouds have been rolling in at night over here.

If I was clever enough technically, it would be cool to set my camera or a telescope to my monitor and zoom in on the planets to see them. I can "focus" in on them but they are so tiny it is difficult to see or to get a clear photo of. The night sky is so amazing and the photo's that I've seen are incredible - there is no way to see all the stars that are out there with our naked eye.

I've always dreamed about being able to see the milky way from earth!
[+] SPOILER

Though the last time this could be seen from any major city was during the 1977 city wide black out of New York City. Everything went completely dark for what felt like forever before New Yorkers looked up and saw how grand of a view they had of our little niche in the universe.

Ahhh, if only > u <

It blows my mind to know that all of that exists out there yet we can not fully see or comprehend the scope of it. If our sky was daylight all the time you would never know - other then a glimpse of the moon once in awhile.

Ah man, I just really love space and stars TT u TT

Like an unrequited love, I shall admire the sky from afar. Unfortunately, I haven't the math skills to do the math needed to be an astrophysicist

One day there may be other opportunities to work in space or other fields regarding space travel.
