Monkeygirl - do you qualify for a FAFSA grant (not the loan, the free money)? Does your state offer any grant money for students? You are so close to finishing your degree...

Apparently not. All I got out of it was work study and I submitted it on Jan. 1st. Then later complications with FAFSA people probably ruined my and my sister's chances at getting the stupid grants.

And I'm going to change my major, so it wouldn't be close to getting it. I realized journalism isn't right for me.

Good, I guess. Just spent a week at my aunt's house cat-sitting.
And I thought I'd like being alone, but I just got bored and lonely. Besides actually getting visits by another aunt of mine.

Did you get paid for cat sitting? Pet/house sitting around here pays quite well.

Yes!!! You got a job! You can use that on a resume (you don't have to tell them it was a relative, work is work). I've seen signs for pet sitting put up on the bulletin boards in housing complexes and senior areas...if you like pets maybe try that?

Hey that's great! It'd be hard to make that (take home pay) with full time work (40 hours).

Well, my aunt lives alone and is one of my relatives who actually makes a lot of money. Like, half of my family makes a good living and mine wasn't so lucky. :

She just basically makes more than she could really spend since she doesn't have to worry about kids and only has to take care of her 2 cats.

Hopefully I can make a better living once I straighten my life out. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do. I'm thinking about Broadcast and Electronic Media too. Just going to take complete use of the career counseling my school has to offer. I don't want to be one of my cousins who just keeps changing majors.

Difficulty in choosing something to do for a career is usually based on either having too many options (want to do everything) or lack of options (and none look good). I'm guessing that you're the former group. Would that be right?

ok, Monkey, what have you done that you felt you did well at, regardless whether anybody else thought you did, and that you enjoyed doing?

What you need to balance is your love/passion for doing something and the honest assessment of whether you can make a living doing it. As long as you're not really bad at something, if you dedicate sufficient time to something you'll become proficient at it. And if you love what you do, you'll likely become good at it because you'll spend more time doing that thing because you love it.
