Hi! I’m going to start chatting over here in your kitty korner so I don’t clutter up your sales thread, if that’s okay!

Have you ever been on a cruise before?

Yeah that's fine

Never been on a cruise
Gonna go zip lining too yay

And earlier in the year I visited family with mom and dad way over at Las Vegas. Even spent a couple days in California and got to see the Pacific Ocean. And get knocked over by waves
And then when I got back home and back to work I got yelled at because they missed me :')

So lots of out and about this year

It seems like half of my friends are in California or NYC constantly doing exciting things. I’ve been to California a couple times, but I don’t remember much.

Except the weather. It was amazing.

Aw, maybe they’ll yell at you some more after the cruise. I think I saw you’re a seasonal worker? (Uh, I’m not trying to be creepy, I swear.)

I'm not NYC, that's still six hours away. Find the city to be overrated anyway

No, park closes for the year after the last weekend of this month, and the cruise is shortly after that

My friends get to hang out with each other easily, which sounds nice. But cities are crowded, which I don’t like.

It sounds like a nice break. I personally don’t like doing much or going anywhere, but I’m a weirdo.

Will your cruise be going somewhere warm and sunny?

I keep forgetting the exact locations but it's a four day cruise in the Gulf of Mexico

Yeah I don't like crowds either. Cons I deal with them

I don't go out much either, but some things if the opportunity strikes, I'm taking it, Vegas and the cruise being two examples I spent way too much at Vegas because antique stores

Ooh, I think I read about a glow-in-the-dark shark scientists discovered in the Gulf of Mexico!

I may be going to the local art museum on Thursday. No idea how that’s going to go because it’s a hassle for me to travel anywhere, plus I need to constantly eat to keep weight on. It sounds fun, though!

What antiques do you collect? How did you get interested in antiques? It seems like such an unending hobby.

It started off as a (modern) kimono for prom and then ooh shiny occured and several years later I spent $600 in Vegas just by antiquing, and that's ignoring the shipping fees to get it home
Good times ovo

Kimonos are so pretty!

Well, there are worse things to do with $600 in Vegas. xD

I get distracted by shiny things a lot. It’s fun to dive headfirst into something new.

Oh yeah. Had mom drop $20 on a slot machine and she won that back and another $200, which had us in hysterics

On my insta scattered around are what all I've gotten. Some of it I've gotten at auctions, those are fun too

Wow, nice.

How do you value the antiques you bid on? Do you just guess, or have an upper limit, or something else?

I allow $100 per set
Cuz the one we go to doesn't do individual items
There's these boxes, they're consistent in size, and barring larger things stuff goes in them. They usually do 3-4 boxes at a time, and go with the bidding
If you want to bid on one specific box, you can have it pulled, but automatic bid starts at $10
Sometimes they throw larger groups together, such as when it's really frickin hot. It's semi-outdoors, it's got a roof and walls but there's also large sections of no wall, for one half. The other half is entirely inside
Most of the stuff I've gotten for antiques there, which admittedly hasn't been much, I got at $10 due to either lack of bids or pull and no one else bid
At one, the auctioneer decided that hey these two vases can go with these two boxes
I'm in front of this set, want the boxes, vases are a bonus
Idk if you've been to auctions, or if they all do it the same, but normally at this one they start with a ridiculously high starting bite, and slowly drop down to something more reasonable. Small things tend to start at $100 and drop down to $10 in bits. 75, 50, and 25 are the usually dropping amounts. These two boxes and vases?
He did the bait bid and then pointed to me and made me start at $10. Didn't even do slow drop
"Hundred hundred hundred" -points to me- "you're at ten who wants 20"
Me: lol k
Ended up getting them for $60 because others bid too

I’ve never been to an auction, but that sounds exciting! Do you ever get stuff you’re not interested in in the boxes? Are you able to sell or trade them away?

Also! Do you make friends there? Have any sworn enemies? It’s not very funny, but right before he started college, I told my brother to make “enemies, for variety.”

I have, some people are perfectly fine with buying bits and Bob's from another person for a few dollars. I've had people offer and have made a couple that way
But most of the random stuff we gave to one of my cousin's wife, so she can sell it and raise money for something or other

Mom and I don't go anywhere near enough to have any rivals or anything like that

Oh, that’s a nice way to tidy your collection.

What’s the favorite item (or items) you’ve won?

Haha, now I am inspired to save up for more grab bags, if it’s alright getting more than one.
