You should have him try Brave. It's based on Chrome (so it should work as well as Google Chrome), but doesn't connect to google tracking. However, if you use google.com (or if you login there), it'll track your searches/travels on the interwebs.

Thanks galled. I'll ask him if he's heard of it. He's rooted his phone and uses alternative web search engines already.
