Yea! Those are just the most practical tools. Spy movies and sci-fi stuff, on the other hand, gets really creative with their weapons. It makes me wonder if it's possible to have something similar to it one day!

Poisons, on the other hand, were usually mixed in with drinks or food, not coated on blades. Slashing's terrible at delivering venom - injection was usually better, and I think the only historical poisoned weapons that had much uses were darts and arrows?

Nope! I mean you! I stabbed you! But don't worry, I'll get it healed! *calls in a group of fairies to heal Lemon*

Be glad I took away the knife!! Fairies don't like iron!

Teheh!

Don't hide from me, Lemoooon, I'm coming to find youuuuuu!

Yes, MissAutumn ....I'd love to escape to Wales! Or at least when things reopen....

Which comes to a curiosity with it being Veteran's /Remembrance day today...are there still any noticeable areas in Europe that were affected by WWII or has everything been rebuilt and hence "hidden". Sometimes I hear of old shells or grenades being found which seems kind of scary.

In watching some old documentaries on the Roman Empire it is pretty wild to think that their " mark" from forts, buildings, fields of war, etc lay buried in dirt...where did so much dirt come from???

If you ever get the chance to cross the pond let me know. I will give you lots of recommendations. Wales has reopened the rest of the UK hasn't.

In Liverpool there's the bombed out church. It was bombed during the Liverpool Blitz in the 40s. Liverpool used to be a major port city:

Pretty much everything was rebuilt. You can find the odd bomb crater in the countryside sometimes. I hear stories about finding old shells and grenades at least once a year. I haven't heard of them blowing up before the bomb disposal destroy it.

Haha, I'm not 100% sure. On my training excavation at uni we uncovered part of an old roman road. It must have been about 6 feet deep. I don't get how it ended up that deep. XD I mostly focused on historic archaeology and buildings so that's my excuse for not knowing. :cheeky:

Glad to hear your area has reopened more! Ours is looking at closing down more because the University on campus students covid #'s have increased and they have not been good about quarantining. The majority of classes are online now so maybe they have too much spare time?

Yes, I would LOVE to come across "the pond". Especially knowing you would have the historical know on where would be good to go!

That picture looks like an album cover!

I've always wondered how thing end up buried so deep when there are no volcanoes or tsunamis involved. Do they sink in the dirt or is that 6 feet of dust settling over the years?!

@"Lemon Cheesecake" Wales decided to do a 17 day "firebreaker" lockdown when the kids where off school for the half-term holidays. Things are open for now. I have my fingers crossed that my weekend away can still happen next week!

I once found an old cog buried in my parents' garden. We think it must have been from the 60s as that's when the house was built.

galled it's such a good photo. It would make a good album cover.
