Hey friends. It's been a while since I checked in here. How is life?

I've been loaded with school and odd jobs. On top of that I have a pretty bad wrist sprain on my dominant hand.

Hello Balcan!
Long time no see! You came back just in time to catch the end of the spring event.

I hope your wrist isn't too painful! Sprains suck. :(

I missed you guys.

It's classified as a grade 2 sprain, meaning a partially torn ligament. I don't need surgery but I have to wear a splint for a couple of weeks. And my wrist will be very weak when I remove it since muscles atrophy when they aren't in use. So I have to resort to getting lecture notes from classmates.

Thank you. How did your accident come about?

I'm injury prone. I've had sprains, fractures, a dislocation once...that one was excruciating. The doctor literally pushed my shoulder into place.

I'm like you I guess--accident prone. I've sprained my wrist once from me thinking that I'm stronger than I am. I tried to catch something that was way bigger than I could handle and it ended up twisting my wrist in a way it shouldn't twist! Then there was the time I sprained my thumb (bent it backwards!)--I was trying to bend/form a piece of sheet metal (don't ask) by pushing it with my thumb. It would only go so far, so I pushed really hard and twang! --4 weeks of thumb pain...

Hope your accident aren't as silly and totally avoidable!

Well this time I fell from a ladder and instinctively reached out my hands to break the fall. I have some bruising in other places but not too bad. My friend yelled out "I THINK WE BROKE MIHAILO" and drove me to the emergency room.

Need to be careful with the thumbs. They are responsible for most of the grip.

sorry to hear you are injured- physical therapy helped me get my torn muscles strong again. They can do ultrasound and tens and other stuff on you to help speed the recovery and exercises to build up the strength - I highly recommend going to the PT.

Be careful guys!

Sorry to hear about your injury but I'm glad it wont require surgery.
Physical and occupational therapy is great if you can get it.

I have to wait for it to heal before we can discuss therapy options. I still have function, but it is limited. I have had physical therapy in the past after a boxer's fracture. Tens is the electricity, right? I have one of the boxes somewhere in the house but I've been using it for a..."different" purpose.

Oh yeah, my splint is off. I'm recovering well and I can write now. Weight training is still out of the question but I'm not in a rush to do that. I don't really build muscle anyway. I am an ectomorph body type.

Glad you're better. Boy, I had to google "ectomorph" too! Learning new words is fun. Thanks!

No problem. I like to improve my vocabulary too.

There are 3 basic body types: ectomorph, endomorph, and mesomorph. Ectomorphs are thin with elongated limbs and do not amass muscle and fat easily. Endomorphs gain fat easily and are stocky. Mesomorphs are very muscular and have larger bones. Most bodybuilders fall into the last category.
