Yes, they "redeemed" the holiday from the "pagans". If I recall reading somewhere the birth of Jesus was like in March. I suppose the only true Christian holiday is Easter but Christian's could also celebrate the Jewish ones like Passover etc. like Jesus did.

We humans like to celebrate together, the holiday's this year will be one for the record since most are not happening. All the Christmas parade's are cancelled, the community dinners, traditional parties that happen...our community potluck dinner has never been cancelled in the 60 years it has been doing it...until this year. So sad.

Not even Easter is a true Christian holiday. It comes from the holiday Ēostre that celebrates spring. If I recall correctly, this is the rebirth of a pagan god.
