Google is your friend...but like some friends it gives too much advice!
I was trying to search how to keep my nails from splitting and breaking and also found out a possible reason for the nail ridges I am having develop..
"- A deficiency in B-complex vitamins, especially biotin, will produce ridges along the nail bed. - A diet lacking in calcium contributes to dry, brittle nails. - A lack of folic acid and vitamin C can lead to hangnails. - Insufficient dietary essential oils, like omega-3, cause cracking".
"Take a biotin supplement Biotin (also known as vitamin H and vitamin B-7) is one of the B vitamins. Because it's water-soluble, it isn't stored by the body, so you have to ensure that you consume it daily. Biotin can help strengthen hair and nails and also helps the body's nervous system to function properly."
"Although research is limited, studies from 2012 and 2015 suggest that results may be seen in as little as 90 days. "
Experiment: I am going to try and take a biotin supplement for 90 days and see what happens. (Yes, I know that is 3 months! Let's see if I can keep it up). It is supposed to help with nails and hair, cognitive thinking and nerves. Side effects can be a rash, cramping and nausea so lets hope I don't have any of that!
