I just imaged unions fought for better working conditions for workers and sick pay would be part of that.

It barely has any protections for us, to the point if they might as well not exist

I think the unions began so that employee's wouldn't be taken advantage of and would receive what was due them ... now the unions take the dues and pressure the employee's. I'm glad rules got established but I think that people can enforce them without crippling the companies who pay their wages & although some rules sound like they are helpful they can in fact cause issues.

Or the person repping the union at contract meeting is in the company's pocket and lets the company do what they want with little to no pushback
