They only bother me in my room at the beginning

When I lived at home, I'd say my hellos at the beginning then fade into the background with a favorite cousin or two back to my room and shut the door. Usually worked well until meal time when we'd get the call. Then it would repeat until it was time to go.

Oh I get the summons to feed and that's it

Yeah, so while mom hates that I don't like to be social at things with lots of kids yelling and an inconsistent volume, at least she allows me to retreat
It's gotten easier in the past couple years because I work nights and so day things I sleep through or need sleep after

That works. I sleep with ear plugs. Highly recommended!

I toss and turn too much for earplugs
And silence is too loud

Also I need music to sleep

I use a fan
And lawdy I have to go in way early. 0545
Which means leaving at 0445
