In other news, my dad's trucking brother died the other night so I have the house to myself all week
Which means I gotta stock the fire before work and hope it isn't dead when I get back (and that it doesn't die out in my sleep)

I wasn't close to the man, so don't know

You leave it burning when no one is home and sleeping?

Crazy California has outlawed fireplaces. They're looking to ban gas applianes now.

It's fully enclosed and it's that or the pipes freeze

Came home way later than I'd like to the fireplace cold. So now I'm getting that built up after calming down from the lock being frozen and stuck at work because no keyfob for the White Thing for way too long

That sounds like a drag

And the only drags I like are drag-ons

Burning wood seems like a better option to depending on a commodity that your life depends on (heat and water) that someone else controls (gas, electricity, etc.). Where do you get your wood from? Do you (your dad probably) cut your own?

We used to get our own but then family members grew up and out and the land was passed down to the paranoid family member so now we buy it

Why does being paranoid make you buy it?

She's paranoid that living will get you hurt
And basically everything she would worry about has happened in the past to no major injuries (scratches and bruises, yes), and because she'd be stuck on it for days, if not weeks, it's just easier to buy it
Plus the whole family members growing up and out thing, meaning less hands

So I remembered that I could ask my brother for help, so I asked him to restock the fire about the halfway point between when I leave and when I get back
Came home to some coals and the house at 64. Tomorrow is supposed to trip to single digits and Friday entirely in single digits so I'm gonna do that again because that's helpful

Also my lead left his chair loose, but the lock and chain are still there. Curiously the heart eyes stick I stuck to the lock is still attached

The stickers may be benign in his mind, but heart eyes and then starry-eyed are funny
