Anyway what with today being stupid cold and windy I'm currently fighting a losing battle to keep the house warm
Wind: winter, snow, freezing
Me: badly insulated house, wood burning fireplace

I've blocked off entire sections of the house, aka all the rooms I don't use, to try and help but that's only so helpful. Also have most the windows covered, the ones I can cover
And I think the fan we used to use on similar super cold days broke so I don't even have that

Fans are made to move air
Yes there's usually a cooling effect but they can also move heat. The one built into the stove blows to the floor for some reason so I need a second one to help get that heat to the rest of the house

Fans are so helpful in hot and cold.

Heat rises. We used to have a ceiling fan and took a while to figure out that in the winter it's supposed to blow downward to move the warmer air at the ceiling down to where we're shivering from the cold!

Parents are home now so fire tending is off my worries

However Big Guy, the orange cat, is currently butthurt at mom and dad for being gone all week so he's been spending his time in my room instead
Considering he's a heating unit of a cat, I'm not complaining. Not in this weather

Apparently mom meant rhebsolid blankets and not the afghans to cover the windows but I used what I had grabbed. Oh well
