This is such a cute hangout! I'm a bit lazy to read through 6 pages but I love dimsum so much :D 每次回去台灣會想念真正的港式點心 T-T

I don't know much about owning a car but I guess it also depends on how accessible and cheap electricity is compared to gas too, though I do agree electric cars are not at all convenient in most places in the world.

@Lemon
Hmm I never noticed but now that you brought it up, not talking about the specific illness was kind of like "saving face" to my grandparent's friends and acquaintances. My grandmother also mentioned that she didn't want others (outside of close relatives) to see how fragile and weak she is now. I wonder if there's some underlying Taoism/Confucianism concept at play here

Gung hay fat choy! Why is it spelled so many different ways? Gung hey fat choi, Kung Hay fat choy ?

Gong hay fat choy is not the same as happy new year. It's wish of prosperity in Cantonese. Mandarin, it 恭喜发财 gong xi fa cai. I think spelled different because Cantonese do not have a standard pinyin. Have a couple different ways to romanise phrases.
To say happy new year, say 新年快乐 Xin nian kuai le (shin nee-an kwai leh). 新年 mean new year and 快乐 mean happy.

Learning new stuff! Thank you!

Nice to see you back, Adol!

The coronavirus in the news is very scary stuff. We've had several cases reported here in California. I hate to say it, but I think it's just the tip of the iceberg... Stay vigilant and safe!

oh I forgot you might be impacted by the virus there! Wash your hands or sanitize them often and don't rub your eyes after touching the outside of your mask if you wear one!

May you and your family stay healthy! :heart:
