oh, ugh. At least you are gaining experience should you choose to look for another job ... but I'd wait until everything is settled with the house, mortgage, insurance, etc.

I'd need my own vehicle first

Started on one line. Moved to a second in time for the mechanic to tell the printer setting the print machine up "yeah it's down for the night, go back to your previous line"
There was stuff on the floor to run so I ran those in time for the superintendent to come up and be irked that all the mechanics told him, but not me. He was less irked when I told him that I'd been doing production stuff, aka not sitting around
Ended up going back to my area. Nothing assigned, but both jobs I'd have done yesterday were still available so I cleared them both. Lead should be happy about that. He was concerned at first cuz I obviously hadn't been in my area for long yesterday and then annoyed when I told him I'd been pulled to the lines
Oh well

Mom: okay after we get the money we can help you with one of two things, either we get you a car or we fix the toilet leak
Me: leak. Dad and I can keep carpooling (idk how it's gonna work on the days I work and he doesn't but we'll figure it out)

A toilet leak can become major issues so better to get it fixed. Maybe it will end up not costing so much & you can get a car sooner then you think.

Will be nice to have some time to visit with your Dad when you are car pooling.

Toilet leaks can be trivial (swap/replace parts). Comple replacement of a toilet diy isn't too bad either--lifting is the hardest part. (Home Depot has them on sale frequently. Of course pipe/plumbing issues are costly if that's the problem...

The tank has a leak and the seal isn't being sat on right cuz the floor is so rotted so it's leaking there too
So dad has to redo the floor as well
Fortunately we have enough tiles of the same we used for the kitchen so we're gonna use those too

Doh! Yep, the rot needs to be fixed. Sounds like dad knows how to fix it. Just takes tools and some time. Shouldn't be expensive, just a pain...

One of our toilets leaked recently. A run to Home Depot and it was fixed, but not really sure if there is water damage to the floor below the tile... ugh--going to have to play Spider Man under the house eventually so we know for sure...

Sole bathroom on the second floor makes that a bit easier
Rip you, especially if there's no basement

Good to get the bathroom floor fixed ... it would be horrifying to be sitting on the toilet & have the floor collapse under you!

The superintendent was mad at himself yesterday
Company picnic was happening
If he'd signed up, no Saturday mandate: he was running as a mechanic as well as supervisor

But no, they didn't tell us about attending=not required to work until AFTER they posted the mandate, aka far too late to sign up for the damn thing
People are naturally pissed

One day a week off means summer is just a puddle of melting in front of machines and sleeping through the day off

I am sorry it is an environmentally hostile work environment for you.

Does that mean you have to sign off on the OSHA safety talks about signs of heat stroke/exhaustion too? They tell you what the company should be providing & the breaks you should be getting to get cooled down but how often does that really happen?? Fans blowing around hot air does not equate to being able to cool down in my opinion.

I feel ya on working 6 days a week, I just feel like vegging on that one day off myself.

HAH. VPOP (his title in initials) is a nepotism baby. Get him out and someone competent in and things should start getting better

On ten hour shifts we have three 15 minute breaks plus lunch
They're about two hours apart from each other
On eight hour shifts it's only two 15s and lunch
Lunch is 30 plus a five minute walk time
Also a lot of the fans are actually good enough that the air they blow at you is at least cooler than the rest of the air, particularly up at trim where you get the heat blast from the machine
So the fans are actually good

oh good, something positive!

I went outside for a bit this evening, cooler then in the house, was nice to be outside. Came in when the bugs started coming out... I didn't want to be their dinner.
