My grandpa was moved to a rehab center and seemed to be doing better. Then as I was going to bed Monday night my mom had texted me. He passed away in his sleep. I tried to call him but wasn't able to during that brief window.
I talked with my mom and she told me how good I was at calling him and keeping in touch. She felt guilty for not doing that herself. But she has been visiting him each year for awhile. I didn't know how I could sleep but her and I comforting each other made it possible.
There's still some disbelief. All these years of dread, not knowing how much time I had left with him. There's relief in that I visited him a couple years ago and had been calling him. I wasn't good about calling him this year but the bigger picture, I thought of him all the time.

I am sorry to hear that Watery...but I do know from personal experience how much our calls, letters mean to the Grandparents. I wasn't able to be with my Grandma when she went into the hospital or see her for a year before she died but she did tell me my calls and letters were appreciated. I am glad you have good memories of your Grandpa. Not everyone gets to have such a close relationship with theirs. Doesn't mean the loss doesn't hurt though but I am happy you could bring comfort to your Mom and she to you.

My grandma(other side of the family) also had to go in the hospital. I hadn't heard anything all week. Called her and she had just gotten home this afternoon. It was such a relief to hear her voice. She told me that she understands my situation and even though we may feel guilty she knows how much I care and my grandpa knew that too. (Much in the way you were saying Lemon.)
She was very tired but was still her chatty self. She has pancreatitis and will be having surgery. She has to see her GP first. My parents are on their way down.

It's a nice thing that ya and ya mom are by each other's side for comfort and emotional support. Hope your grandma can beat the crap out of her pancreatitis! She seem like a lovely lady, I'd wish for her to be well.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's never easy, but at least you were on good terms with him before he was gone. And you have the rest of your family to help you through this

Oh NO! Not your Grandma as well! I am so sorry there is so much tragedy going on in your life right now, I am glad you are able to talk to your Grandma. i understand pancreatitis is very painful but I believe it can be treated with a stint or something. I hope she gets good advice.
