Most people couldn't see it anyway!

Next is April 2024 but even fewer people will be able to view it.

A lunar eclipse follows about 2 weeks after a solar eclipse. So Oct 28 there will be one but unless you live in Europe or are taking a trip that way then doubtful you will see it. Those are actually cool as the moon goes a purply and then red colors. Very pretty. Solar are just a dark shadow.

Me too! D';

The last time I heard anything about an eclipse was maybe back in 2018(?). I worked at a coffee shop at the time and we gave out protective sunglasses to customers who wanted to view the eclipse in our parking lot. I don't remember if it were lunar or solar, though.

Lunar is the moon eclipse so you do not need glasses to watch.

That was very generous & thoughtful of your coffee shop to hand out the glasses for protecting eyes during the solar eclipse!

Yeah, it was. :3 I think we also had an eclipse drink special, too, but I don't fully remember. One thing I remember for sure is my boss warning us about looking at the eclipse without the glasses or else we'd go blind. @-@

And that is so true! I think I read ancient Mayans thought the eclipse was a curse because people would look at it & go blind... but curiosity is a dangerous & risky thing sometimes!

Oh wow, that's so interesting! :'O And yeah, when you tell someone not to do something, of course they're gonna want to do it anyway. xD

Very few of us have an abundance of caution, I think curiosity gets the better of us... especially when we are told not to look or not to touch!

Lot's wife in the bible was told not to look back but she did & turned into a pillar of salt apparently. I think of how difficult it would be NOT to look when you are hearing sounds & seeing flashes of light etc, I'd want to turn & look!

Or what about Methuselah?? One look & you were stone! How is it you could look at her with a mirror though? I never quite understood that.
Maybe Lot's wife should've carried a mirror with her, I wonder if that would've made a difference? Theory is it was her longing for what was destroyed that turned her into the salt.

That's my philosophy for the day.

I don't think I've ever heard of the Lot's wife story before, but it sounds interesting. And maybe it's harmless to look at her with the mirror because her reflection isn't actually her? o-o

Lot & his family were able to flee when Sodom & Gomorrah were being destroyed by fire rained down from heaven. Lot was told he & his family would survive so long as no one looked back at the city when fleeing.

Honestly from a distance I think I'd want a glimpse at what was happening.

I'll have to look into the story of Methuselah again.

In the book series Warriors (or Warrior Cats) there was an eclipse that the cats believed to be a sign from their ancestors, iirc

Speaking of mirrors, I wonder why vampires don't show up in mirrors

I read the Warrior series but forgot about the eclipse in it.

Good Question, why is it vampires can't see their reflection?

what I found:
[+] SPOILER
In the 19th century, mirrors were backed with a thin layer of silver, which is believed to be one of the purest metals, perfect for repelling werewolves and vampires. That simple layer of silver is what kept vampires from being able to see their faces in a mirror in the time of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

also:
[+] SPOILER
They have no souls and since the mirror reflects the shadow soul of a person, their reflection cannot be seen in the mirror. Vampires can look in the mirror, but they won't be able to see their reflection.

And in looking that up, I found out that Vampires don't pee.

Oooohhhh, I see. I like the idea of fire raining from heaven, that's good inspiration.

These mirror facts are pretty cool! I think it's funny that vampires don't pee, though. I wonder if they're only able to pee in their bat forms? o-o

Good question ... when they are not in human form do the rules change for vampires?
