It's so nailed into place I can't do much anyway
Plus it's right up against the door so that's gonna be a pain

This closest only barely touches the ceiling, it's in no way, shape, or form load-bearing
And the "walls" are plywood sheets, so crash bang boom isn't gonna happen

I'm actually impressed, Kit, how much you do know about your house & what needs to be done, very impressed.

That's one of two things I want to demo
The other has a lot of wall outlets and actually is drywall so that ones gonna require a lot more work

Also dad did them so they weren't even part of the house in the first place

You can usually remove/demo drywall and keep the electrical intact if you don't use a saw around the outlets and where the wires route. Electrical usually is installed before the drywall, so they aren't attached at all. Just remember to take off the outlet and switch plates first. Removing the drywall will make removing the electrical easier.

Keep in mind that dryway installation and demo is VERY dusty!

It's not drywall. It's particle board this stuff

OK, OSB. That's pretty messy too (small sharp chunks and shreds rather than micro-dust), but if he framed it (2x4 or 2x3 wood behind it--like would be behind drywall), it should come off and not affect electrical.

Just wear work gloves--that stuff is sharp when it comes apart!

Was it nailed in or screwed in?

It's framed
Sadly the one side is right on the door so I can't easily get to those nails

And the electrical is a light switch mounted onto the other board and its light, so I would feel safer having it removed first

Is the switch on the wall in a box or in the wall? If inside it'll be in a box attached to the frame(can't be removed from the outside without removing the osb first). Electrical boxes are used to protect everyone from shocks and prevent shorts.

I'm sure you can turn the fuse box to turn them off and then take those outlets off safely. That's what me and my Dad did since I was his helper. xD
