At work we had to have someone come in and label some of the switches we couldn't figure out by turning things on & off.

ALWAYS a good thing to have them labeled! It has saved me a few times from doing the wrong one. The newer ones though you can usually see the switch is not all the way over to know that that breaker was blown. Not sure how that works on the older homes! I bet they can be a mess!

Yeah if the breaker trips it's completely flipped over to off

Apparently we have knob and tube wiring somewhere. Disconnected, but still in the walls

It's 100% disconnected so it's safe
Plus it's one small area that has it, not the whole house

Yeehaw power line broke about a mile down the road. Caused a brownout

That is awful!
A brown out you have to run around && make sure everything is turned off so that they won't burn out.

Although I like to bring out the lanterns & candles during a power outage.

Dunno, the dispatch report dad got just said live wire on the road and the snow has no wind behind it

Thankfully the overwhelming majority of what I have is low enough that the brownout didn't fuck with it, and the higher stuff was either already unplugged or not in use. Except one light. Which I unplugged anyway cuz only one of the three lights worked. Kinda. And since it has three lighting options I didn't know where in the cycle it was so I turned off and unplugged. Just to be safe
I also spent about half of it out in town, so I wasn't even home when it happened

Power outages are ok for a bit but not hours, especially in winter.

Thankfully the brownout only lasted a couple of hours, and right after I had complained to my friend about the power not being on, it kicked back on. Talk about timing
Internet did the same thing lol

Also got some more of mom n dad's stuff packed so I could move more stuff out of my room with the shelving I cleared out
Stopped cuz the dust was making me sneeze like crazy
