I used to have scavenger/treasure hunts on my birthdays. They were a blast. My dad would set up one location, then wait until he could see us before running to the next area and setting that up, just to prevent people from stealing.

It really was. It seems my birthdays were the more involved of the three of us. The three of us being my siblings and I. I can't remember much about my sister's birthdays or my brother's.

That's awesome.
The closest I had to a scavenger hunt was finding plastic Easter eggs my parents would hide in and outside of the house. They kept that up well into my and my brother's teens. My dad would give clues to the trickier spots and sneak in the big "prize" towards the end.
