I've never heard about the living in igloos before haha.

Queen's English refers to speaking English like the Queen. It's considered to be an upper class accent and in the past the BBC had all their TV presenters speak like that. David Attenborough is a good example of speaking this way. There's loads of accents. My accent is a weird hybrid one as I lived in the South for most of my childhood and my family moved to the North. Ah regional dialects are fun. I used to have to "translate" what my mum was saying to my fiancé as he wasn't used to the Yorkshire dialect haha.

Does he understand now? Interesting how we say we speak English but what does that really mean when you get people speaking it with a variety of accents?

I never noticed Canadians in various provinces speaking with accents but it is sure noticeable in the US among different States, especially the Southern or East Coast.

I once heard a quote that went something like "the US and UK are two countries separated by a common language."

I know cockney (The Beatles) and what ever Michael Caine speaks accents. Oh and Scottish and Irish accents, but there are probably many sub versions of those as well! I can understand most except when it comes to when the speaker's style are mumble-slur words together at a high rate--then again I have a hard time with Americans who do that!

Then of course most of the slang and colloquialisms go right over my head...

Yes, he understands when she slips back into Yorkshire; but he does struggle with "owt or nowt" ("something or nothing") because it sounds like "out or out" to him. Exactly, there's some US accents that I have to really listen to understand what they're saying.

Galled, that's a good quote, there's so much truth to it.

The Beatles are from Liverpool so they speak "scouse". Michael Cain is cockney though. There are some Scots that I struggle to understand what they're saying. I have better luck with Irish accents, I think because I've met more Irish people. Watching Father Ted helped too.

Now, you have to do a particular wand and wrist movement when you preform the spell! It is called the swish and flick! Please practice the movement for a little while before trying out the spell! Once you've practiced, do the movement towards the feathers you see before you, and say, very clearly; Wingardium Leviosa! With any luck the feather will begin to float up!

That's because you're holding a staff

It's hard to do the swish and flick with a staff. The swishing isn't too difficult but it's nearly impossible to do the flick right with it
