but the horse races are coming up and we're gonna be really busy because its a public holiday for most workplaces so theyre trying to cut hours so they can make everyone work on that day instead

only in australia are they like.. we could have everyone work on a completely normal day.. OR we could give them a day off to go get drunk and spend like 5 minutes actually watching the race

A couple of years ago Australia Day fell on a weekend, and everyone was like uh.. but what about our day off work? So the government was like... shit youre right guys! and made the monday a public holiday for that year as well xD
