*shows up 1 month late with a pot of tea*
HAHAHAHAHA

So I did end up starting an art journal, but it eventually just became a 'anything goes' journal. It's just filled with doodles and brain vomit scribbles at the moment. And everything is in one color because I couldn't bring myself to stand up and get the other colored pens I have.

One color is good, it can even be the theme of that particular art journal

Both good points! I'm just using one pen and ink atm because the journal is one of the few notebooks I have that can handle fountain pen ink. I'll try out mixing different colors and pens eventually, but not now since it seems like that takes some more time to plan than I currently have to give HAHAHAHAH

Oh...yes, fountain pen ink definitely can leak through paper...you can do ink blots though! Some are fascinating!

I did ink swabs instead! I don't think the paper's fancy enough - it's gonna leak through several pages if I splatter the ink!

Very interesting! It's like water colors!

I seem to recall when doing ink blots we'd wet the paper first. It helps the ink flow and I think it might help reduce bleed through, but I always wet the paper first so I can't say from experience.

Oooh wetting the paper first sounds interesting! It'll definitely look different! I'll try it one of these days HAHA

Don't watercolor papers have a rough texture? I fear that might damage the pen nib... And more absorbent paper's actually pretty bad for showing fountain pen inks huhu

It'll take experimentation due to paper differences and desired effect, so dampen might be more descriptive than wet. I've done everything from running the paper under a faucet, swishing with a damp paint brush or paper towel, to sprinkling drops. Have fun and please share if you get around to trying it!

oh yes, water color paper is rough, I was thinking more about if you were using the ink as drops then actually drawing. I have not researched what is the best paper for actual ink pens...probably like what they used hundreds of years ago since most of the work then did survive.

These are really interesting ideas! I'll keep that in mind for further experimentation!!

Lemon Cheesecake
Ink splatters are pretty ;o; I've seen some people just fill a page with ink spills HAHAH it shows off an ink's character in a different way from writing and brushing with it.
I tried to splatter some drops but I don't think it went well HAHHAAHHA some of it just pooled and leaked to the other page. Then I got impatient and wiped it off, which was apparently a bad idea bc the point of a splatter was to let it dry while it's pooled like that.
From what I've read of other's and my own experiences... glossy, coated paper is best!
HAHAHA that's an interesting idea. I'd love to experience the Antique(TM) vibes.

There is actually some glossy reams of printer paper. That might be cheaper for experimenting on?
