Mentions with quotes not working for single word names

I think the mentions guide only says to quote the name and put an @ before to mention someone.

However, mentioning a single-word name only works without the quotes:

@Akuyi -- works
@"Akuyi" -- doesn't work

The second will actually transform the mention to a link inside the post, but not notify me with a PM. It would be cool if I received a notification in both cases.

Well, that's funny cause I haven't received a single mention when Anarchist Beauty did so in my shop.

And I generally tend to stumble across mentions in posts every now and then which I never received any PM for.

Things may get weird if they preview the post before posting. The @ gets changed to bbcode when you do that and doesnt trigger a notification.
Thats the only explanation I have, it works great otherwise.

Not without totally rewriting the forum software.
