Avatar Preview in Shops

Whenever I go the shops, only my hat, eyes, and penguin show up.

It doesn't fix when I refresh, either, and even though it'll show if I go to try it on, when I go to the next shop, since it reloads, the parts that weren't visible are invisible again.

Did you by any chance set your base (and other invisible items) on another computer or browser? If so, what's happening is Windlyn is not Ajax enabled yet, so if you dress up on one computer/browser and login from another computer, you'll just see a blank avi. In other words avi sessions don't transfer with multiple logins (yet!). I'm not sure what happens with individual items, but what you're seeing (or not seeing!) sounds like it might be related.

I set my base on my laptop which I'm using now. But I usually just change the eyes on my phone, but the eyes are one of the only things that shows. I've never really changed outfits on my phone.

I might've accidentally unset and reset my base when dressing up my avi on my phone. But I got it showing again, thanks for the help.

Can I revive this thread?

I'm having the same issue. Whenever I enter a shop, I only see part of my avatar showing up. To be precise, I only see the items I changed when I last changed my avatar, not the items I left untouched.

Having to go back to the avatar editor and re-equip every single item just so they will show up in the store is very annoying.

Why is it not loading my avatar the way I saved it?

Is it what happened to Monkeygirl in the posts above? Did you see Galled's responses?

Yeah, but I'm not sure whether I understand it. And why would the items I wear depend on my current session anyway?

The simple explanation is what you see in your avatar preview is held locally in your browser. So when you move to a new device, it doesn't have that information from your previous browser.

That was the original problem I had, Akuyi, but all you have to do is go re-equip everything you have on and save and it should fix it.

You shouldn't even have to save your avatar to make it show up properly in the shops.
Eventually we will move away from storing tried-on items in local storage so it works across browsers, but for now that is low priority.

Diana Sorry to touch this topic again, but I noticed that whenever I click the "Restore" button on the avatar creator that it results in an empty avatar preview in the stores, even though it was showing up fine before. This renders the Restore button kind of useless to me. Is this something that can be fixed independently or does it come from the same issue as above?

That is an independant issue. I will look into it tonight!

Just kidding, thought this was a different thread. The restore button on my avatar works fine for me. It's a sort-of related issue. I think I can put a fix together.
