Bonfire Night started out as a celebration of the failure of a Catholic terrorist attack (the Gun Powder Plot) in 1605. They wanted to assassinate King James by blowing up parliament when he was opening it. It's also known as Guy Fawkes Night because Guy Fawkes was the guy hired to carry out the attack, and he was the first one caught. We have a massive bonfire, with a "Guy" being burned, and there's fireworks. It's also traditional to eat Parkin Cake when watching a display.
