bbcode (the posting text interpretor) strips (or more accurately hides) certain characters it encounters as they are not meant to be displayed. I had some back slashes between some formatting tags that the interpretor mistook for closing tags and stripped them leaving my fairy half rendered.

The fix was to edit and double up on the disappearing bits! (So the first instance was stripped, but the second was ignored resulting in a complete fairy!
