awww <sends you hugs> that must have been discouraging - but don't give up! There are still a few months left and something could still come up - just look for the "help wanted signs" as you are shopping etc and if you see one then say "hey I'm ready to start now if you can use me!".

Actually, the grocery stores around here hire students and Ralphs (Krogers in some states) will help with scholarships for their employees. Do you have a CVS pharmacy near you? The ones here were hiring, willing to train if you had no experience and willing to have you work at other locations. They will even pay to send you to become a pharmacy technician. (Not that that is what you are wanting to do...but places like that you can arrange to work at different locations when needed.
