I didn't know the names of the red envelopes...that is so cool to find out! There can be some very elaborate ones...I think it is a great tradition.

hmm iirc in some culture it's only given out by married couples to those unmarried ones and younglings, also elder ones giving to younger ones, idk if there are any other varieties in other cultures

several other cultures in my country also adopted the red envelops custom, they be giving out green envelops (for Hari Raya Aidilfitri) or purple envelops (for Deepavali).
