Yeah, our grammar is actually pretty similar to English grammar and a lot of words are alike, so English has been pretty easy for me to learn. But going from gendered nouns to non-gendered ones is always easier than vice versa. Most non-natives from my student dorm rather have problems with our word combinations though. Like, there's "fangen", "abfangen", "anfangen", "einfangen", "befangen", "Unterfangen" and they all have the same stem but a totally different meaning and there's not really any rule behind it (at least as far as a non-linguist can tell). The words just came out like that over the course of history.
