You know., that brings up a curious point ... do ducks carry anything in their beaks? I've seen them eat, but unlike a bird that I have seen carry a twig or worm for example, I have never seen a duck carry something in its mouth.

Ducks don't have beaks...
They build nests in nearby vegetation. They create a depression in the ground and pull vegetation around the depression made to create the nest. They don't bring material from somewhere else. Also, if you see a duck nest, don't disturb it or the mama duck will not recognize it and abandon it.
Ducklings self-feed so ducks have no need to carry food to their babies and eat what they catch on the spot.
