"Attention everyone!"
The loudspeaker blared.
"This is Inspector Scott Lanyard speaking. I regret to inform you that a break in and vandalism has been reported. A passenger's cabin has been ransacked. To speed up our investigation, we ask that you remain in your own quarters until further notice. Thank you for your cooperation."
The loudspeaker clicked off as Scott Lanyard put down the receiver.
You were waiting in your cabin reading some of the provided brochures when you heard a knock at the door. You open the door to see Scott Lanyard standing outside. He gave his speech with a precision that suggested he had repeated it many times before.
“Hello. I hope I can count on you to carry out investigating the vandalism of Lady Pengwing’s room. Unfortunately, I am a suspect this time, so I must steer clear of the crime scene. I was on my way to meet with the captain in the same time frame the vandalism took place, and did not meet anyone else until I got to the captain’s quarters. I will return to my own quarters after I alert the rest of the selected detectives of their duties, and will remain there until you come to a conclusion on who the vandal is. I will be available for advice at any time.
Here’s a notebook to use during your investigation. Feel free to
head on up to Lady Pengwing’s cabin and check out the scene of the crime. Please keep all clues you find so we can present them to the authorities when the ship docks. Good luck, detective!”
The inspector nodded to you and continued on his way down the hall.
It's time to get a move on, he's depending on you.
