Now, the app I use has a maximum layer count (18), but if that wasn't necessary and i could keep all my layers, each color is a layer. Make it darker? New layer
The character is separate layer
The stained glass lines are on two: one inside one outside
Usually the character ends up running 3-4 layers when I'm drawing them out
Generally at least two layers are of the character, and for the flowers, one layer per flower type
This all means that if I could keep my layers, I'd be running about, oh, 50-odd layers, give or take, per stained glass
They take several hours to make cuz of this
If I'm not motivated, so my attention is wandering, or something's keeping me sidetracked, it may take a couple days
Coloring? Well, for skin tones and the like, I'm using a dip dye to pick. That means skin colors, hair colors, eye colors, those are all from canon. Shading and highlights makes the character look a bit more different than what you see in the comic itself, usually
Outfit colors I choose, and I try to keep the light and dark shades consistent
Stained glass gets the same treatment, but with a light source. Usually, the character themselves. Thistle, though, the light focus is on the lily by her hand
Pumpkin, it's around his horn cuz when Harpy needs something, it generally lights up. It definitely does when the scene is extended
Also, how the glass panels in the background itself can be deliberately chosen. On Gwen's, top half is a spider web because she's a monster of a spider, playing nice and elegant and all that to lure prey in. Bottom half, illusion shattered. Lots and lots of sharp points. Also where the top is light and the bottom dark
Pumpkin, he's got light rays shooting from his horn
It's a lot of work, but hey it looks good
