Yes, there are plants to deter pests but I haven't figured out the ratio yet. But there is stuff you can buy, at a farm supply place I think, for sprinkling in ponds to deter mosquito's (skeeters).

Iirc it's both. Definitely lemongrass tho. Have some of that, and lots of different mints mom planted into the ground. It's staying behind the railroad ties tho so something in those it don't like
