Hello! Every time that you help someone, (help, assist, rescue, protect) you do earn gems. I don't know how many gems you earn but you do earn some. You also earn points for your team.

As JinMay mentioned, when you click on someone's support/help/protect/rescue ... YOU get gem points, the person you helped gets gem points AND your team gets points.
