Leaks are Lame!

Postby Boris » Mon Jan 30, 2023 11:56 am

We had a leak for a couple of months, and last week or so, we got a plumber to find it. They found it, but the fix and such costed around $3,000. Then we find out we had another leak, and to replace the pipes would cause an estimated $4,000! I was hoping to go to Universal Studios in February, but it will have to wait until we can pay off the $7,000! At least now the water bill shouldn't be so high! I had to stay home today because I didn't want to be stinky and go out, and I was unable to turn the water on to take a refrshing shower. Now I do, and I am pleased to say that once I was told where the thing was, I went and turned the water on and off!

So sorry to hear about the plumbing problems. Was the leak inside or outside the house? I can get by without electricity, but not having running water is much much worse.

In my experience plumbing estimates range wildly, but I understand if it needs to be done now, you're stuck. I've found that asking neighbors for who they use typically gets you the best price since they've done the legwork of filtering out the outrageous ones.

One was inside, and the other is in the garage, by the water heater, I think. I know how to turn the water on, so I can at least shower, but still, having the water turned off is a bit of an annoyance.

Your parents should see if homeowners insurance will cover the costs.

Sometimes when you do an insurance claim they raise the premiums on you, or sometimes you have to reach the deductible first, maybe that is why they don't want to claim it?

I don't know why they won't, but got a loan out at least, but it's still a lot!

I agree, but uh... well, due to some stuff, it's cost over a lot of money! I forgot how much, though! Way too much, I know that!
