I think it's really about thinking a little differently. For example, happiness is a choice. It's actually the same for everything where you have a choice. The "perfect" job or career doesn't exist. There are ups and downs, challenges, impossibilities, heartache, as well as pure joy in anything. Nothing will be 100% pure joy or even close to it. But for some people the thought that there is a possibility of such a thing ruins their outlooks.
Another way to look at is selecting the thing that's the least objectionable and focusing on what's good about it. Because that's what people who have made their selection have done (unconsciously perhaps, but focusing on the good and ignoring/pushing aside the bad stuff). Then what's left is diving in with both feet to focus on the best parts and yet still doing your best at the bad stuff. The wonderful thing is if you do it long enough, you'll get good at it. The numbers that have been circulated is it takes 3,000-5,000 hours of doing something to get really good at it. So a big part of it is it's really just a matter of choosing something and sticking with it. You'll get there!
