I think I remember hearing something about mosquitoes prefer some blood types over others

Blood type –
[+] SPOILER
Depending on the type of blood you have, you secrete different scents. Studies have shown that mosquitoes are most attracted to Type O blood and least attracted to Type A. No changing your blood type either. Lactic acid – Lactic acid is emitted through your skin when you are active or eating certain foods.

colors:
[+] SPOILER
Try to wear long sleeves in a light fabric at those times. When dressing for a hot summer night, get out your white, khaki, olive and beige clothes. Mosquitoes are least attracted to those colors, but sporting an outfit in red, black, or a bright floral will lead to a mosquito attack.

Scent:
[+] SPOILER
Scientists do know that pesky bugs such as mosquitoes and no-see-ums are attracted to humans mainly because we emit carbon dioxide and heat. Certain body types emit more heat and carbon dioxide than others.

smell:
[+] SPOILER
Some mosquito species are leg and ankle biters; they cue into the stinky smell of bacteria on your feet.

Don't know if this works to repel them: Topical Mosquito Repellants
[+] SPOILER
Lemon Eucalyptus oil can be used to repel mosquitoes.
Rubbing the skin with baby oil or imitation vanilla extract repels biting insects such as mosquitoes and blackflies.
One of our favorite remedies is rubbing apple cider vinegar on your skin to repel insects.

And from what I am reading it says vitamin B1 repels where I thought it was b12

Aww, that's cute! The bee smacking into you, I mean.

Lemon Cheesecake wrote:it might be about time to test the theories

Yes, test them out fr me. I haven't been bitten by mosquitos after the night I was, which makes me wonder if I was bitten by mosquitoes.

Both are cute. The bee just wanted to give you a hug... that's why it smacked into you.

It really was terrible. The swelling died down after a bit of eucalyptus oil and hours of not touching it.
But I had already cancelled my plans of going out that day.

Did you ever see the commercial where the guy puts his arm in a container full of mosquitoes then applies a repellent and puts his arm back into the jar to show that they don't land?

We need to test out stuff on different arms and see which ones repel the mosquitoes!

Yeah, someone needs to do that. For science. Someone else. Not me.

I would pay to watch from behind a four inch glass wall though.

You should get a net over your bed. I do that in the summer so they don't attack me. Though the first time I did it wrong and I had a mosquito trapped in the net with me. What a nightmare.
