What is everyone craving right now?

My office is cold, so I just want something hot to warm me up.

Are you located in the southern hemisphere? I would like to just not be hot right now! (We're in summer--California.)

I'm in Ohio. But my office may as well be in Antarctica with how cold it gets. @-@ I'll trade you places for a few days. xD

Oh boy, they must have the A/C really cranked up over there! Over here we have power outages and the powers that be telling us not to crank it up and not use it in the late afternoons, evenings, and nights. <sigh>

I tend to do better with too cold than too hot (I can put on more clothes), but too hot is just too draining--oh and add in humidity with either and misery...

We need people who can think economics (big picture) in government. The latest is they don't want people to charge their electric cars at night???? Hello????

The first thing that comes to mind is that the government should install solar panels for energy use throughout the day and allow people to use energy at night (assuming that by that time most people are asleep, so the energy use won't be as abundant as throughout the day). Or even have wind turbines constantly going so that people can use that energy instead. In a perfect world, I guess.

The problem is the "adults" have shut down or are in the process of shutting down natural gas and nuke plants (they're re-thinking the nuke one as we speak) without fully taking into account that we were barely keeping up with demand before the shut downs. Sure solar is rising (we probably have more solar here in California than any other state), but unless you have storage in excess of demand (we don't), conventional power needs to work at night and when the wind doesn't blow. It's cart before the horse and the net result is crazy high prices and not enough capacity--downward spiral. Economy/economics get worse, people can't afford to live here, so they move--tax base gets smaller, so they raise taxes. Repeat.
