We can't even plan for a recess that day because even if it isn't raining, we can't trust that kids won't stare at the sun and we don't want to be held liable for any eye injury that results from staring at the sun for longer than however many seconds it is.

How old are the kids? I was able to view a partial eclipse in 5th grade with my teachers guidance. That was in the 90's though and times have changed.

They are 9 and these days people are looking for any and every reason to sue someone else. I'd rather stay out of that. XD

If you are talking to me, please ping or quote me. I get distracted and lose track of what I'm doing easily.

ugh, I don't know why it has to be like that but you are right.

So.... I bought some oreo cookies and some round chocolate covered donut holes ( both symbolizing the solar total eclipse for the US) at Food 4 Less and also some cookies that are dipped half chocolate (symbolizing that we only get a partial eclipse) and I am taking them to work for a Solar Eclipse party for my customers! If I remember I can take a photo and do a small write up and submit it for the employee newsletter that is mailed out for our district - they are always looking for stuff like that.

That's such a great and kind idea. I didn't know they did that kind of stuff at your store.

Don't forget to get the solar eclipse stamp if you live in the US ( I guess if you live outside the US you could order it as a collectible on line?). It is heat sensitive and the dark shadow turns into the moon with light or the touch of your hand.

The sheets are 16 stamps and sold by the sheet and you can buy a black protective envelope for 25 cents for it. They probably won't be for that much longer, I imagine until the Post Offices run out of on hand stock.

Here's a photo of a coworker's picture of the eclipse. Not sure how it will come out on here. Fortunately the clouds kind of dulled the sun and she got the image.
