I'm craving a mug of tea because I'm being a sterotypical Brit.

I'm going to go make myself one. :3

Sadly no scones in the house. I keep hearing that they're hard to make so I've never attempted to bake any.

I've tried several recipe's but never as flaky as some tea shops I have been to.

I’m not too sure, but do they require lamination? It’s a process where sheets of butter are incorporated into the dough. That’s how pie crusts become flaky, for example.

I cut my butter into the flour when I make scones...I don't cream it...kind of like making tea biscuits...but I think scones have sugar and biscuits do not.

I was never interested in scones, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a quality one.

What do you like baking?

I don't think you do for scones, Vivianne. That's more of a pastry thing.

Yeah, I casually studied pastry, so whenever I hear flaky, I think lamination. orz;

My bias is showing.

It's the first time I've heard scones being described as flaky. I'd say they can be crumbly.

The scones I’ve had were always dry and crumbly. I didn’t like them much.

Muffins or cake, on the other hand...

I don't mind them dry. I find having them with clotted cream instead of butter combats the dryness.

...I’ve never had clotted cream, I think! Even butter was a rarity.

"clotted cream" sounds like what it does to my arteries! ;)

I loved tomato soup, but it always seems to have heavy cream.
