Home made that has simmered for awhile can be really tasty.
If you get the canned pea soup sometimes you need to add ham.

I buy a can, and the one I buy can come with ham or without. I think I always buy without

I don't recall the brand, I'll have to take a look

But I definitely recommend it

I ended up trying this can, and I added bits of left over bacon to it. It wasn't bad for my first time eating it, and surprisingly it tasted more peppery than salty (I didn't add any extra seasonings). The weather is cloudy and chilly today, so it was the perfect meal. My only critique is that I wish it had some potatoes in it, I think the potatoes would have added a little extra umph. =w= If I eat it again maybe I'll add some next time.

Never tried with potatoes meself, and I'm too lazy to put them in, so if you try it let me know how it goes!

I buy frozen mashed potato's & add them to soups to thicken the soup up. They are frozen in little medallion shapes & work great.

That's a smart idea! I have a pack of instant mashed potatoes. I'll have to add it to my next soup. :3

Nope, they are precooked, just frozen so drop it into your soup!

Oh, I haven't tried instant potato's.

I made gumbo over the weekend, but doubled up on the smoked sausage instead of adding chicken and shrimp along with it. It tasted pretty good, and I think I might prefer it that way.

I would, too

Because I don't like shrimp!

That's understandable! I love shrimp, but I can't bring seafood or shellfish to work, so it's best not to make it if I decide to bring my leftovers for lunch.

The extra smoked sausage gave the gumbo more flavor, in my opinion.
