So, Everything changed for me

Postby MonkeyGirl18 » Sat May 28, 2016 9:48 pm

And it's not necessarily the best but ehh...

1. I'm not going back to the university I was in in the fall. I was put on academic probation, and for me, they decided to not let me use financial aid (aka student loans) and I can't afford to go back. It's mostly because of Humanities which I am terrible in and that I missed a couple of online tests that I didn't know were up. It was also just anxiety and it affecting everything I do sooooo yeah, not there anymore.

2. Going to be taking at least 1 class at a community college and do so until I get my associate's in arts, though I want to do the film program, but that's a certificate and my dad decided that I need to do associates in art and not do what I want with my life despite me enjoying filming.

3. Since I'm not going back to the university, I definitely won't be going back to the foodcourt. Have to tell them my plans have changed and that I won't be returning. In the mean time, I did get a job, which I'll tell you about in point 4.

4. I got hired onto Taco Bell, but the thing is, they didn't interview me, I couldn't do the online steps, and when I went in to see them, this lady told me she'll call me when the manager will be there (she was probably the ass. manager or supervisor or something) and she never did call back and I had went by on Friday saying that I had to call a number on the site I've had the problem on. The same day I heard I was apparently hired on to Taco Bell, I got a call from a Subway that was located in our WalMart. I got an interview with them. My dad keeps having me fill out tons of applications. Pizza Hut asked for an interview, Integrity, a temp service for Amazon, told me a position was available, and I'm getting oerwhelmed. And my dad still kept pushing me to fill more applications out. And then I hear from another temp service TWICE. He still kept pushing me like, DUDE! I have 5 job opportunities opening up from 4 different places. Give me a break! So, I was going to fill out the rest of the things for Taco Bell today when Subway called me and asked if I can start tomorrow. YES! I know Subway, I know all the subs, I need a bit of training, but it won't be as much as someone who never worked at a Subway before. I have to figure out how I'm going to tell Taco Bell that I found a different job that I am more interested in. I did hear from Taco Bell and subway at the same time, coincidentally. I just don't know how to go about it.

Subway interviewed me
Taco Bell didn't

Subway doesn't have all this online forms to fill out, though I probably still do have paperwork to fill out
Taco Bell has a bunch of online steps and forms to fill out which can end up with something going wrong

I know Subway
I don't know Taco Bell (As in, being a worker, not eating there)

Everything is complicated.

I just want this to end.

I'll probably call up Taco Bell Monday and tell them that I had a job opportunity which happened the same day they told me I was hired and that I have made my decision up to work with Subway instead.

Plus, not that this was a factor, lol, but they (Taco Bell) already had at least 2 people there with my same name, lol. Spelt the exact same way, too. lol

But yeah. Need to figure out how to tell Taco Bell that. Any tips or whatever? I'm not going to turn down Subway. I'd rather work there.

tell Taco Bell : thank you so much for considering me but I have the opportunity to stay with Subway and so I have decided to take the job with the subway here. ( can you add, by the way my sister is looking for work and is a good worker - maybe she can look at some of the job places you have?)

an associate at a local college is cheaper and helps with getting classes later on at the university.
maybe it won't be so overwhelming for you.

which place pays better and has better benefits?

well, go with what you know and if you do go back to a university food court you may stand a better chance at getting hired.

How does the subway franchise work - can you work your way to manager? Can you purchase a subway?

I'm pretty sure all jobs gives you the ability to work your way up to the top. It'd just be pretty hard the higher you go.

Soooooo.....

I don't understand my dad's thought process.

He told me when I get a job, he'd lay off telling me to apply to jobs. That's obvious. I got the job at Subway. They hadn't added me to the schedule yet because they weren't planning on having me in til Wednesday, when their new work week starts. They called me in because someone called out and they needed another person. And because I don't know my next work day, my dad thinks they're going to either work me 1-2 days a week or whenever they need me.

Obviously they wouldn't do that. That'd be stupid. Why hire someone to hardly work them? I don't need to fill out applications, this is going WAY too far to where I don't know what to do anymore. It's all a mess, I am overwhelmed with this whole thing. I don't need to apply anymore. It's not my fault they needed me in earlier, it's not my fault the manager/owner was off today. Like, geez, it's only been a day! Stop telling me to fucking apply to more jobs!

I don't want to live in this house but I have nothing else yet. I can't afford to live on my own yet.

Well, the bright side is we remember when you couldn't find a job and no one would hire you or call you back even. Now look at you with the job offers!! So proud!

Just hold on a few more days and your dad will see that you have a job. You probably just need to understand that he just doesn't want anyone ending up a living at home with no job just slacking. You've come so far already, but it probably hasn't sunk in to him yet since you haven't been living at home.

You could probably move up at Subway pretty quickly because you've got experience. The more responsibility you get, the more you should earn and the faster you'll save! And you'll hopefully be working with people who want to work (as opposed to some at your other store) which will make everything better all around. :)

I could still go to the university I was in if I can take at least one class and pay it with the money I earn from my job. And I could possibly do that to get off of academic probation and return again as a full time student.

You have plenty of options. You just have to decide which you want to pursue. Keep us posted!
