I'm pretty open to anything but horror. I prefer thrillers (no gore).

I'll do about anything.

Especially if it involved ghosts.

Thanks, guys! I love movies and love to talk about them. :)

OK, thrillers with ghosts and no gore. (I think "no gore" may mean no gratuitous blood letting as many thrillers have someone killed and/or blood in it.) A movie that comes to mind is THE SIXTH SENSE (perhaps more of a mystery ghost movie?). I thought it was M. Night Shyamalan's best movie. Unfortunately, I think it was all downhill for his movies since then...

Have you seen THE SIXTH SENSE? What did you think?

When I think of thrillers, I think of chase/escape the killer/spies/bad guys kinds of movies, although I think alot of crime/detective ones fit in that genre. Are we all on the same page?

I agree with your definition on gore.
I think of thrillers as having a mystery aspect with some danger involved. Crime/detective movies are part of that.

I loved Sixth Sense. I agree it was his best movie and went downhill from there. I kind of wonder if the success of the movie made him want to continue doing movies with a twist ending or if he'd always want that regardless of how well the film did. I have to give it more thought to say what I really like about the movie, it's been awhile since I've seen it.

I am partial to suspense/thrillers (Hitchcock, etc.), but lately murder mysteries have taken up my time. I think it's because I like to "compete" with the on screen detective in solving the crime. I suppose it's because it's interactive in a way.

I thought UNBREAKABLE was pretty good, but I couldn't stand any of his movies that followed it. After being burned by really bad endings, I won't even start watching one anymore. :(

What's ironic is his trademark twist ending is the thing he's lost the ability to do. I also dislike the sideshow kind of marketing that he was using. I mean if the writing was good, then OK, but to make that the selling point of the movie and failing so hard (it's almost like he used random endings on some of his later works) left me feeling like I was swindled by a con man more than a couple of times.

Anyhoo... can anyone recommend any good thrillers that you liked?

I like action and I like period pieces. I could watch Jackie Chan movies over and over again. Same for Indiana Jones series.

Just saw SECRETS OF THE INCAS. It's been called the movie that Indiana Jones is based on. I can see it's very similar!

You can watch the full movie on Youtube

Both are Paramount Pictures too. ;)

Maybe Paramount owned the rights then?

What movies would you say you have watched the most times?

Period pieces can be interesting.

I think some of my mom's quieter, scenic movies would be the ones I've seen the most. I don't like watching movies repeatedly but those are nice to have in the background.

Under the Tuscan Sun, Only You, French Kiss. Can't seem to find any a little more recent besides Eat, Pray, Love but neither of us liked it as much as the rest I below.
Steel Magnolias is a great film that we've watched a lot in the past.
Mermaids is a good mother-daughter movie.
Benny and Joon is a great movie with quieter parts.
Practical Magic is one movie that I've seen a lot yet don't get tired of.
There are some good Jane Austin movie adaptions that she watched a ton and got me into wanting to read the books.
There are some cute romantic comedies that I like: You've Got Mail, My Best Friend's Wedding, Sleepless in Seattle, While You Were Sleeping and Where the Heart Is.

I like that even though there's the romance aspect to it it was more about family and the bond between sisters.
