Techno-palooza!

Postby galled » Thu Aug 24, 2017 3:09 pm

I think I'm not alone in being excited about cool tech products! This thread is dedicated to sharing great tech things you've run across. They can be useful or silly. Even WTF products are welcome (as long as they do not breach Windlyn's Terms Of Use of course!).

Feel free to jump in with your comments on what you think of the products posted or post ones that you've run across. Most of all, have fun! :cheer:

That's right, it makes pancakes! Kind of a cross between a 3D printer and a griddle.

I don't think it's about efficiency. And 3d printers aren't very fast either.

Seems like something that would work better in a cafe then at home.

I'm not sure who it's made for. I bet it's really slow and that might be a problem for a cafe'. I think I'd qualify it as a (not cheap!) novelty than something really cool or useful.

The food network showed making bacon in a waffle maker - I think I am going to try that one out!

Here's some inspiration: finding ways to accommodate special needs in a cool way:
"Grace Jun, a designer, self-taught coder, and the executive director of the nonprofit Open Style Lab (OSL), whose "mission is to make clothing accessible to people with disabilities through design and technology...The Brooklyn based inclusive-design organization launched in 2014, initially as a public service project at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In the three years since, the group has developed around 60 unique garments for people with disabilities ranging from spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, and Lou Gehrig’s disease as well as "invisible” disabilities like autism."

Agreed. Even though they look portable, they look like they'd take quite a bit to set in place, etc.. I think they'd be more appropriate for trade shows an temporary events like sporting events, etc., where you'd have time to plan and move them. They'd also work as short term housing (1-5 years) that you could take with you when you move.

What's I find inspiring is tech like this might lead to something similar to drop on Mars. Instant Mars colony! :)
